Time: 11:30 - 12:30
Location: Alachua Co. Public Works Department, 5620 NW 120 Lane

Directions: Take 441 North (13th St) to 5 miles north of 34th St. Turn Right on County Road 25 A (little tiny wayside park and up over rail road tracks. Seems like you are going into woods. There is a sign for Public Works. Public Works is the 2 story white building on right.)

Topic: This trip in our civic adventure is to the Alachua County Public Works Department. We are continuing our efforts to understand the major flows of money (Ad Valorem, gas, and sales tax) into the county and how we spend these community dollars. Last April, we went to the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO). This trip to Public Works will finish the committee’s look at roads. It is interesting as over $4,000,000 of Ad Valorem taxes go into roads as well as the gas taxes, and these monies are impacted by annexation. Get your questions together; Rick Hedrick, Director of Public Works will answer them.
